Curriculum & Approach

Local
Vision & Mission

Sharing the educational mission of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, the kindergarten strives to provide the society with diversified pre-primary educational services. We provide Holistic Education to children through a good learning environment, so that children attain balanced development in the domains of language, intellect, physique, emotion and social skills. Based on ''Diligence, frugality, loyalty and faith'', we foster children to develop positive values and the ability to solve problems.

Curriculum planning

Our school's curriculum is designed according to the Education Bureau's ''Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide”, focusing on the holistic development of children. It emphasizes cognitive and logical thinking development, artistic growth, and opportunities for free play. We also implement character education and environmental education through ''picture book teaching,'' ensuring balanced development across various areas. Additionally, the curriculum prioritizes bilingual and trilingual development, offering five days of English sessions (using English picture books and games to encourage meaningful and natural use of English) and Mandarin sessions taught by teachers certified at Level 1 of the Mandarin Proficiency Test. Furthermore, our school recognizes the importance of home-school collaboration, regularly sharing children's learning and development progress with parents to effectively support their needs. We will follow the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.

Learning & teaching approach

Our students learn through ''play-based learning'' combined with ''picture book teaching,'' using engaging games and group explorations. This approach encourages personal discovery, experience sharing, and group discussions, allowing children to observe, think, and solve problems. Additionally, our rich environmental setup, learning corners, and diverse teaching strategies stimulate children's intrinsic motivation to learn and enjoy school. Furthermore, we promote experiential learning by providing varied outdoor learning experiences and visits, enriching children's life experiences and understanding through hands-on activities.
