Admission Process: 1. In the 2020/21 academic year, the school was approved by the Education Bureau to accept not only inpatients referred by the Child Development and Rehabilitation Department of Ming Ai Hospital but also cases referred at the regional level by the Education Bureau. 2. Upon receiving a referral for a new student, the admission team will promptly conduct a pre-admission assessment (including communication with medical staff and home visits). 3. Parents will be contacted to come to the school for an interview, a tour, and to sign the admission documents. 4. After the parents sign the admission documents, the school will determine the student’s start date. 5. The school will officially inform the parents of details regarding the student’s enrollment, such as the class, schedule, arrangements for assistive devices, and bus services. 6. Once the student officially starts attending the school, the admission records will be submitted to the Second Group of Special Education Support at the Education Bureau. Transfer Process: 1. Upon receiving the transfer documents from the Social Welfare Department or nursing home, the school’s social worker will notify the parents, the school team, and the Ming Ai Hospital team (for inpatients), and officially initiate the process for the student to leave the current institution. 2. The school team will prepare a report on the student and create a short video detailing the student’s learning or care needs, for reference by the parents and the new transferring institution. 3. Parents and the student will be arranged to visit the new transferring institution for an interview. 4. The school will coordinate with the new transferring institution to determine the date of departure and arrange for the transportation of the student’s belongings; parents will also be required to collect their child’s items and pay any remaining school fees, if applicable. 5. The information related to the student’s transfer will be submitted to the Second Group of Special Education Support at the Education Bureau.
