Curriculum & Approach
Tivoli strives to provide all young learners of all nationalities, languages and cultural backgrounds, with equal opportunities to holistically develop their potential in becoming responsible, respectful and reflective global and citizens. We believe that every child has an innate interest to learn and explore. As a school, our goal is to provide our young learners with a safe, rich and healthy environment for them to holistically develop their cognitive, physical, linguistic, social, aesthetic and moral domains in order to equip them to tackle their unforeseeable challenges in the future.
Our school places great emphasis on developing children's language skills. Effective communication not only helps children engage with different cultures but also broadens their social networks and horizons. We adopt a ''one teacher, one language'' policy and an ''immersive'' language strategy. Beyond the designated daily thematic discussion time, Chinese, English, or Putonghua teachers conduct group activities in the classroom. This allows children to use two written languages and three spoken languages in real-life contexts to communicate with classmates and teachers daily. We will follow the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
We adopt an integrated teaching approach, with each classroom featuring dynamic and multifaceted learning centers that cover language arts, reading, mathematics, science, and more. Each center’s activities have clear objectives and provide multi-level, diversified learning materials, allowing children to engage in scaffolded learning based on their individual abilities and interests. Furthermore, we uphold the principles of Positive Discipline to nurture children’s sense of belonging, responsibility, self-discipline, problem-solving skills, and collaborative spirit.
