Vision & Mission

School ethos

Towards the end of the Qing Dynasty, a young North American female missionary travelled a far distance to Guangzhou with the religious mission to spread Christianity to China. In order to provide Chinese women with education opportunities, she founded the first True Light School in 1872. It was one of the first colleges for women in South China, and Guangzhou. This female missionary is our school founder, Miss Harriet Noyes (1844-1924). Her religious zeal laid the foundations for the school's future development in education. In pursuit of the ideal cherished by our school founder, our school provides a quality Christian education, aiming at inculcating our students with the values embodied in the Bible and preparing them as a generation knowing how to love themselves and others, to distinguish between right and wrong, and to live in integrity and with a good sense of responsibility. True Light places preeminent emphasis on fostering students' moral character and is committed to upholding the school motto "You are the Light of the World". Under a harmonious and friendly school culture, our class teachers, subject teachers and club advisors serve as guides of our students on their path of growth. Guidance and counselling programmes are conducted to help students positively face the challenges ahead and move forward to lead a fruitful life.

Vision & mission

We use "Jesus is the True Light of the World" as our school name, and "Educating people for God" as our school mission by living up to the truth of how Jesus sacrificed His life for loving us and cultivating talents for the society, the nation and the world.
