Curriculum & Approach
Upholding Po Leung Kuk's educational mission to promote balanced cognitive, aesthetic, social, physical and moral development in children and to continue providing high quality early childhood education in light of preschool education reform.
The curriculum aims to cultivate children's interest in learning, establish positive values and attitudes, and achieve a comprehensive and balanced development We will follow the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation.
Positive Education Through picture book teaching, children learn about positive concepts and appreciate their strengths, enabling them to face challenges and build resilience. The school also emphasizes the positive emotional development of children, fostering close and trusting relationships with teachers, which encourages them to express their feelings and develop positive emotions. Free Play Focusing on joyful learning, the concept of learning through play is integrated into the existing curriculum. A rich play area and diverse toys are provided, allowing children to explore independently according to their interests. After participating in free play, children show increased confidence and are able to share their ideas with teachers or peers, fostering an active learning attitude. Kindergartens- Primary Schools Alliance Establishing close connections with primary schools under the Po Leung Kuk for diverse resource sharing. Regular primary school experience activities and visits are held, arranging for primary students to interact with young children, enriching their learning experiences. The senior class includes a preparatory program for Primary One, gradually developing self-care and learning abilities. ''Exploring Nature and Life'' Activities Combining life experiences with regular outdoor learning opportunities, children can personally engage with nature, cultivating environmental awareness and a spirit of exploration. Through various learning activities, children learn to observe, ask questions, and think critically, building their inquiry skills.
