Debenture / nomination right

HK$3,000,000Parents and Sponsors may choose to purchase non-interest-bearing debentures to support their child s application. HKIS offers three types of debentures: Family Debenture: HK$3 million; Standard Corporate Debenture: HK$3 million; Comprehensive Corporate Debenture: HK$5 million. Debentures are not mandatory and do not guarantee admission. Holding a debenture places qualified applicants at the top of the wait pool. Debentures retain their value and cannot be sold. Only the Family Debenture is transferable, and only to the purchaser s children or grandchildren.

Debenture Application Deadline: Debenture applications for the upcoming School Year must be submitted by November 1 of the current school year.

Age eligibility

For entry into Reception One students must be aged 4 years on or before August 31, of their year of entrance. For entry into Reception Two students must be aged 5 years on or before August 31, of their year of entrance.

Families will be notified of the admissions decision by the Office of Enrollment Management starting in March and continuing on a rolling basis.

Priority A - Debenture Holders; Priority B - Community-Connected Applicants (Children of HKIS Faculty, Overseas applicants currently studying outside Hong Kong and enrolled in accredited American curriculum schools, Siblings of currently enrolled HKIS students, Children of HKIS alumni, Students returning to HKIS, Overseas applicants currently enrolled in an international curriculum school outside HK and the Greater Bay Area); Priority C - Local and Regional Applicants

Interview

1 round(s)Select applicants will be invited to a pre‑entry assessment. Families who are invited will receive an email notification directing them to the HKIS Admissions Portal (via OpenApply) to schedule their assessment date and time. For Grades 3 to 12, the assessment is a Standardized computerized adaptive assessment for math, reading, writing, and oral language.

For entry into Secondary School (Grades 6-12), the grade is determined by grade completion. A student entering high school must submit records for all previous high school coursework. Credit for graduation cannot be given without a full high school academic history. Students must have valid proof of visa status/right of abode in Hong Kong prior to the start of school. A student may not enter HKIS unless he/she will be living with at least one parent who is in full-time residence in Hong Kong. HKIS requires all of its students to be covered by personal health insurance.
