Last updated: 18 June 2026

Hong Kong's 2026 Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) results are released on 7 July 2026. Discretionary Places and Central Allocation results are announced on the same day — no waiting through two separate result dates.

Checking results on the day

  • Students receive a results notification slip through their primary school.
  • Parents registered on eSSPA with "iAM Smart" or "iAM Smart+" can view results online from 10am on 7 July.

After results: registration

Once a place is allocated, parents must bring the required documents to the allocated secondary school to register within the EDB's specified period — the two days after results day, which for 2026 is 9–10 July. Missing registration can mean losing the place — note the date and location on the notification slip.

Knocking on doors

If you are unhappy with the allocation, you can "knock on doors" — applying directly for leftover places at a preferred school that did not allocate your child. These places are limited and competitive, so prepare early:

  1. Pick targets. List 2-3 schools where you have a realistic chance, and check each one's door-knock arrangements and quota.
  2. Prepare a portfolio. A concise record of results, conduct, activities and awards — one to two pages.
  3. Bring document copies. Results transcripts, proof of address, birth certificate and similar, ready to hand over on the spot.
  4. Prepare for interviews. Some schools interview the same day or soon after; students should ready a self-introduction and reasons for choosing the school.
  5. Keep the allocated place. Until a door-knock is confirmed, you should usually register the allocated place first to avoid losing both (check each school's requirements).

For the allocation mechanism, banding and school-choice strategy, see The Secondary One allocation guide.

Good to know

Results dates and registration arrangements follow EDB and school announcements. Door-knocking is decided by each school with no central mechanism — always confirm the latest arrangements directly with your target school. Source: Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB).
