Last updated: 17 June 2026

Hong Kong's school stages each run on their own calendar — kindergarten, Primary One and Secondary One all have different application, results and registration dates. This guide gathers the key 2026 milestones by stage so you can plan ahead.

All dates below follow the EDB's annual announcements and can shift between years — always confirm against official and school notices.

Kindergarten K1 (Kindergarten Education Scheme)

Kindergartens in the Kindergarten Education Scheme (the "voucher" scheme) mostly open K1 applications in the autumn of the preceding year (from around September), with interviews concentrated in October-November. Schools usually notify results by mid-December; the EDB announces a central registration date each year (8–10 January 2026 for 2026/27), and parents use the Registration Certificate (RC) to register within that window, holding a place at one kindergarten only. See The Kindergarten Registration Certificate (RC), explained.
